Davington Primary School

Faversham, Kent

School Meals

We now run our own kitchen!  We are fortunate to have wonderful cooking facilities and a great team of cooks.  We can provide cooked meals or a packed lunch on a daily or weekly basis.  School meals cost £2.65 per day or £13.25 per week payable in advance.  Payment for school dinners should be made via Parent Pay, our online payment system www.parentpay.com, for more details contact the school office.  Currently all children in KS1 are entitled to a 'Universal Free School Meal'.  For further information please contact the school office.

A copy of our three week menus are available to download (please click on the tabs on the left of this page) and each week's menu and any 'Theme days' we have will be on display in the small cabinet on the main playground.

PACKED LUNCHES
As a Healthy School we encourage all children to eat a healthy, well balanced diet. Please do not send your child to school with fizzy drinks, food with lots of artificial colouring, sugar or caffeine or very salty foods. We actively discourage packed lunches with lots of chocolate, crisps or pre-packaged food.

BREAK TIME SNACKS
Children may bring a plain biscuit, cereal bar or piece of fruit. Please pack these separate from their lunch box. Children in KS2 are able to purchase fruit tokens for The Fruit Cafe

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT DAVINGTON PRIMARY SCHOOL IS A NUT FREE SCHOOL

FREE SCHOOL MEALS
Your child may be entitled to eat a free hot meal or packed lunch by simply registering for free school meals.  In fact, by registering for free school meals you may also be entitled to further benefits saving you even more money!

Your child may be entitled to receive free school meals if you are entitled to receive one or more of the following:

  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)

Many children at our school are already eating healthy, balanced, nutritious school meals and I do not want your child missing out.   Delicious healthy school meals will give your child a real appetite for learning and help them to achieve their full potential.  There is nothing healthier for your child and your family’s budget than free school meals.

To make sure your child does not miss out on their entitlement to eat, please ring or pop in to the office, apply online via KCC website or download a form using the link below.

It is now statutory to provide the option of milk, daily.  Our school has offered this provision for many years.  Children with an underlying entitlement to free school meals will be provided with free milk if they want it.  Please note children in KS1, who are part of the universal free school meals, are not part of the free milk scheme unless they have been accepted as eligible for free school meals.

What to do now
