2020 Admissions

You must apply for a primary school place if:

  • your child is due to start primary or infant school (reception year)
  • your child is at infant school (year 2) and is due to start junior school (year 3)
  • your child is at primary school (year 2) and you want your child to move to junior school at the start of year 3

Applications for transfer to primary school for September 2020 open on Tuesday 5 November 2019 and close at midnight on Wednesday 15 January 2020.

You can apply for up to 3 schools, putting them in order of preference. It's in your best interests to list 3 schools. Naming only one school does not guarantee your child a place at that school or give your child priority for a place over another child, neither does naming a school more than once.

To apply to a school outside of Kent, name the school in your application along with your other preferences. Your application details will be passed on to the relevant local authority for processing.

KCC will process applications between 15 January and 16 April 2020.

Applications close on 15 January 2020 for children due to start primary and junior school in September 2020. If you miss the deadline please email primaryadmissions@kent.gov.uk.

If you apply online we will email you on 16 April 2020 after 4pm to tell you which school you have been offered. We cannot guarantee the exact time you will receive your email, this will depend on your email service provider.

You can also log in from 5pm on 16 April 2020 to view your offer.

If you apply using a paper form we will send your offer by first class post on 16 April 2020. Royal Mail no longer guarantees next day delivery on first class post. Please wait 3 working days for your letter to arrive before contacting us.

Additional information

Once you have been offered a place, you must complete and return the acceptance form to the primary school offered together with birth certificate, council tax statement, utility bill and proof of child's address.  If you miss the deadline to accept the place you should contact Admissions to discuss whether the place is still available. You may lose your place if you do not accept by the deadline.

Once you have accepted your place we will contact you in due course with further details of your child's admission.  We have a maximum intake of 60 children.

When we know our exact intake, we begin the process of ensuring every child’s entry into school is happy and relaxed. In the Summer Term before the September start, parents come to an Open Evening with their children to find out more about how we work and ask any questions they might still have. This meeting also gives parents the opportunity to meet and talk with the Reception class teacher and other support staff. At the start of September, just before starting school, each child is visited at home by our Reception class staff.
