P.E. kits will be sent home at the end of every term for washing.
Water
It is important that children drink plenty of water throughout the day. Please send your child to school with a named water bottle that they can use and refill during the day.
Breaktime snacks
The free fruit sceme finishes at the end of year two so if your child needs a snack mid morning, please send them in with a snack of fruit / vegetables which can be kept in their school bag until break time. If your child has a packed lunch, they will need to remove any snack or drinks bottle needed for class use as lunchbox cupboards are locked. Please ensure any snack pots/boxes are named.
Homework
In Year 1, termly topic-based activities will be sent home to be completed at your own discretion and recorded through pictures or work in your child’s homework book. There will also be a weekly maths based task to consolidate and support the learning in the classroom. Weekly sheets will be handed out on a Friday and will be due by the following Wednesday. Topic-based activities will be due by the last day of term.
We also ask that children read for at least 10 minutes every day with an adult. Please record when you have heard your child read as we keep a record of this. Their reading record should be brought home daily and will be checked in school weekly. We request that children bring their reading book and record to school each day
Reading
Your child will receive a Rhino Reader book which corresponds with their reading level assessed termly in class. We ask that you read this book three times and record any reading into their reading record. Once a book has been read three times, it will be replaced.
Library time
All children have timetabled access to our wonderful library each week. They need to bring their library book back to school on our allotted day as we cannot guarantee that they can be changed at other times.
Class library time:
1H – Monday
1B – Tuesday
Over the course of the term there will be an opportunity for you to see your child’s classroom and for them to share some of their learning with you. Please keep an eye out for dates in the coming weeks.
